Raegan: "Mom, can I go outside and water your plants"
Me: "Yes, but you need to go in the backyard, not the front."
Raegan: "But I wanna go in the front."
Me: "Sorry, only in the back or you can play in the house."
Raegan: screaming mad..."I WANNA GO IN THE FRONT!"
Me: "Come inside. If your going to act that way then you don't get to be outside."
Raegan, while running through the house still so mad: "I DON'T WANT TO PLAY! I JUST WANT TO BE BY MYSELF!!!" and she slams the door to my bedroom.
A few minutes later she comes out, still mad, her face never redder, and she says, "Big girls just want to water flowers in the front! Mom's say no and that makes big girls mad, so they run in the house, and they lock Mommy's door. They get into Mommy's make up, and then they stop. Then they get into Mommy's jewelry, then they stop. Then they come out here and they THROW A FIT! Your trying to be a nice mommy and I'm not being a nice girl. I'm being naughty." This is where she breaks down into tears: "I'm sorry mommy, I'll be a nice girl."
Whoa. Talk about emotions.
