Gateway

Just a few summer pictures that deserved to be posted now that summer is coming to an end. While my parents were living in the high rise we took the kids to the fountains, they had a blast with the 5000 other kids.

Cherry Hills

This was our one and only trip to Cherry Hills this summer. The kids loved it, they want to go back, but for me it was a long drive, expensive, and way too crowded. My mom is such a great grandma, she took the girls on all the water slides, even the tubes that get you totally drenched! The kids are lucky she was there because even though I did some slides with them, I was too wimpy to get soaked in the freezing water.

Goodbye Dance...

...Hello Soccer! We're mixing it up this year and giving Raegan a chance at soccer rather than continuing dance class. I think she's at the age that she can decide which one she likes better and we will run with it after soccer season. Her first game was on Saturday, with no previous practice time. Kurt had given her some pointers and try to teach her in the backyard before the actual game. The one rule he said to her over and over was "Don't use your hands." So while they were playing she kicked the ball into the garden and she grabbed it with the tips of her fingernails and said, "Look dad, I didn't use my hands! Just my nails!" After that lesson she was extremely worried that she would accidentally use her hands during the game. I reassured her that she would be okay and that we would even be yelling and cheering for her. She loved that idea.
She is on the same team as her friends Mallory and Kenlie. This helped to ease her nervousness and she had a great time. I love that all the kids just run around in a clump after the ball, even if they get close to the ball most of them are apprehensive to really kick it. I laughed hysterically during the game, they were too dang cute.

Macy's First Day of Preschool

For Macy's first day of preschool she started the day out right with a bowl of spinach for breakfast. I didn't make her eat this, this is what she requested and she ate every bite. After that every minute before it was time to leave for school was torture for her, she couldn't wait. We got dressed (I actually made her top) and off we went. She went right in and got started on the activities as if she'd been doing it forever. Macy was a little concerned about me picking her up when school ended and had mentioned it several times. She knows now that she doesn't have to live at the school and I will be there when class ends.
Her teacher is Mrs. Forsyth. Macy calls her "Mrs. FourFive" she warmed right up to her. Raegan's teacher is Mrs. Ringamoto and Macy calls her "Mrs. Raeganmoto" So cute. I can hardly believe how fast time flies by. My baby is in preschool!!!! Macy LOVED her first day and talked on and on about how she got to sing in class. I think she's going to have a great year.

Is it Jazz Season Yet? We can't Wait...

Remember this post? Well, my parents temporary home just happened to be in the same high rise as Kyle Korvers. Kyle has even helped my mom with taking out her trash. What a guy. My cute dad got this just for Raegan. When he gave it to her she got embarrassed and shy, but couldn't hold back her smile. It's now hanging on our fridge so Raegan can see her crush, I don't mind looking at him either. he he.

Camping with Makeup

The summers just about over, so we decided maybe we should use our boat and take the girls up to Yuba Lake and camp for a couple nights. I know it's pathetic that we haven't used the boat yet, but sometimes life gets busy. Anyways, on the way down we stopped at a gas station to take the girls to the bathroom, while I'm helping Macy, Raegan says to me, "Mom, do you know how I love you?" I asked how and she says, "With your makeup on." Then I asked, "You don't love me without my makeup on?" and she replied,"Well, yes, but it's just that your so pretty with your makeup on."
The next morning, after not getting much sleep camping, Raegan jumps on my sleeping bag, looks at my face, and in a very concerned voice asked "Mom, did you bring your makeup?" Ahh, gotta love the honesty of kids, it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I know I shouldn't be concerned what my 5 year old really thinks, but I did ask Kurt later if I really did look that horrible without makeup. Of course he said no, but what else was he going to say without getting in trouble? I'll take his word (whether he was lying or not) for it.

Back to the camping trip: We met four other families there around 10:00p.m., set up camp on the beach, made smores, and put the kids to bed. I was super paranoid about sleeping in the tent because I don't sleep well anywhere besides my own bed, so my cute husband got me a tent and the ultimate foam pad to put on top. It was actually a really comfy bed and I would have slept great had it not been for some teenagers partying hard just a few campsites away. They didn't settle down until around 3:30 in the morning, which meant that I didn't get to sleep until then as well. I was so irritated with them, I laid awake and listened to them laugh, scream, swear, and worse (if you catch my drift).
The next morning we took out the boat, and played on the beach the entire day. The kids loved every minute of it, which made it worth not sleeping the night before. The lake was FREEZING, but Raegan wouldn't stay out of it, she was a fish while Macy preferred to make sandcastles and not get in the water. I don't blame her, I didn't get in the water either. I wanted to go wake boarding but I'm too wimpy when it comes to being cold.
The second night I had a plan to be asleep before the party animals started up again, the plan worked okay, they woke me up twice, but since I was so tired from the night before I slept much better. The girls had no problem sleeping in the tent, Raegan did wake up once and had no clue where she was and was wondering around so confused.
It was a fun little getaway, even if it was just for a couple days.

I'm Scared

My husband just bought a wife beater. He says it's for working out, but I'm thinking it's all apart of his midlife crisis. Can this please end.
