Camping...Maybe Never Again!

So, now that Kurt has all this free time on his hands he has come up with all sorts of activities and adventures for us. One night he decided that he wanted to take us camping. Well, I'll have you know, that the only time that I have been camping is girls camp (we all know that was awhile ago) and Kurt hasn't been camping since we have been married. So likewise, we have no camping equipment. Kurt went off to the store bright and early the next morning and purchase everything and anything a camper might need, including a cot, for one night of camping. With no plan we headed up A.F. canyon with Shawn and the twins, got there around 8:00p.m., with no place to set up camp. We searched and searched and finally settled on an okay place. The kids were all starved so I asked Kurt to build us a fire so we roast some weenies. No matches. Are you kidding me? Who goes camping, buys a cot, lantern, a massive tent with a front porch, all for one night, and doesn't bring matches. So being the Eagle Scout that he is he whipped out the cigarette lighter and tried starting a fire. No cigar. It took several tries before Shawn realized that he had a camping stove with a flame! Sweet! We roasted hot dogs late at night and sat around the camp fire. After trying to get Macy to stay in her camo sleeping bag and asleep I decided I was beat and ready to sleep myself. Which never happened. I lied awake ALL NIGHT LONG! I kid you not, I never fell asleep. It was torture. The next morning, Shawn took the twins and Raegan on the ATV down to the lake. Before she left, both Kurt and I lectured her about staying away from the water. Thirty minutes later Shawn shows up with a soaking wet Raegan. Apparently, while Shawn was fishing, the bobble thingy on his fishing pole fell off into the water and Raegan jumped in after it while Shawn wasn't looking. She was too scared to cry for help, so she stood up to her chin, fully clothed, in the water until he discovered her. She was actually quite traumatized by the whole thing she mentioned several times that she will never go near the water again. She kept apologizing for it over and over again. Although this wasn't the greatest experience camping I think the kids had fun and I may be willing to try it again, just not anytime soon.
