Just A Snack...

Raegan, Macy, and Jack were jumping on the tramp when I had this conversation.

Raegan, "MOOOMM, Macy has something black in her mouth!"

Me, "Well what is it? Can you get it out?"

Raegan, after Macy spits it into Raegans hand, "Oh, it's bird poop."

Camping...Maybe Never Again!

So, now that Kurt has all this free time on his hands he has come up with all sorts of activities and adventures for us. One night he decided that he wanted to take us camping. Well, I'll have you know, that the only time that I have been camping is girls camp (we all know that was awhile ago) and Kurt hasn't been camping since we have been married. So likewise, we have no camping equipment. Kurt went off to the store bright and early the next morning and purchase everything and anything a camper might need, including a cot, for one night of camping. With no plan we headed up A.F. canyon with Shawn and the twins, got there around 8:00p.m., with no place to set up camp. We searched and searched and finally settled on an okay place. The kids were all starved so I asked Kurt to build us a fire so we roast some weenies. No matches. Are you kidding me? Who goes camping, buys a cot, lantern, a massive tent with a front porch, all for one night, and doesn't bring matches. So being the Eagle Scout that he is he whipped out the cigarette lighter and tried starting a fire. No cigar. It took several tries before Shawn realized that he had a camping stove with a flame! Sweet! We roasted hot dogs late at night and sat around the camp fire. After trying to get Macy to stay in her camo sleeping bag and asleep I decided I was beat and ready to sleep myself. Which never happened. I lied awake ALL NIGHT LONG! I kid you not, I never fell asleep. It was torture. The next morning, Shawn took the twins and Raegan on the ATV down to the lake. Before she left, both Kurt and I lectured her about staying away from the water. Thirty minutes later Shawn shows up with a soaking wet Raegan. Apparently, while Shawn was fishing, the bobble thingy on his fishing pole fell off into the water and Raegan jumped in after it while Shawn wasn't looking. She was too scared to cry for help, so she stood up to her chin, fully clothed, in the water until he discovered her. She was actually quite traumatized by the whole thing she mentioned several times that she will never go near the water again. She kept apologizing for it over and over again. Although this wasn't the greatest experience camping I think the kids had fun and I may be willing to try it again, just not anytime soon.

Ratatoullie

This morning the girls were watching the movie Ratatoullie, Raegan asked me if she could make Ratatoullie for breakfast. I told her I didn't know how and that we didn't have the right ingredients at our house. She was insistent and said we had all the ingredients in our fridge, so she hopped to it.

Raegans Famous Ratatoullie
2 Tb Ketchup
1 Summer Sausage Link
1/4 C. Shredded Cheese
1 Tb Mayo
1/2 Strawberry Syrup
2 Cups Lettuce
1 Tortilla
Salt and Pepper to taste

First, add ketcup onto a wooden spoon then tap ketchup into medium sauce pan.

Second, cut summer sausage into chunks on stove top using butter knife. Add sausage to sauce pan.

Next sprinkle with shredded cheese.

Add ripped lettuce and strawberry sauce (don't be shy with the strawberry sauce)

Carefully place tortilla on top covering all ingredients.

Top with remaining ripped lettuce, more strawberry sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Raegan prefers mounds of salt on hers but you can do as you please. Then turn stove top on low for 6 seconds. Volia!

Enjoy your Ratatoullie!

Raegans face after she tasted her creation. She decided to save the rest for Daddy in the fridge because she knew that he would appreciate it.

Snip, Snip

The girls and I follow the same routine every morning when I do their hair. I sit Raegan in front of the t.v. and do her hair while Macy does my hair (she may grow up to be a beautition) anyway, I'm doing Raegans hair and I hear a familiar snipping sound, I turn around to see that Macy has cut a chunk of my hair and was going for the second snip. Nice... I guess she's just added another layer to my hair.

Happy 4th of July!

For the fourth of July this year we attended the 2nd annual neighborhood party that was held in the open space behind our house. I have to thank Julie and Denise for planning the whole thing. The kids love it and the adults hang out, talk and eat. What can be better. We started the party with the pledge, which Kurt led, the bike parade was next, and then the water games, face painting, snow cone machine, and cotton candy began. Raegan was even brave enough to sit under Darrels home-made dunk tank, which dumped four huge buckets of ice cold water on your head for about 30 seconds. Kurt was into making the rockets like you wouldn't believe, and Macy is like her mom and wanted to just sit and eat treats. It was a pretty great day.

Decorating the Jeep for the big parade.

Waving at the crowd like a pro as she drove down the path.

Some of the fun things to do.

The more wild Raegan could go down the slide the better. She loved every minute.

Macy on the other hand, is a different story. She was basically set into the water in this picture and you can see how much she loved it.

This is more her cup of tea. It's just the way she rolls.

Raegan dunking herself, she did this several times throughout the day.

Kurt hard at work on Raegans rocket, I think he ended up making one for every kid in the neighborhood. Maybe he should be a rocket scientist. Something to consider during his job hunt.

3,2,1, BLAST OFF! These rockets were being shot off by our backyard and I would guess a couple hundred rockets landed in our fenced backyard and there were 4 on our roof. Poor kids had to go searching through our yard for their precious paper rockets.

Welcome Home Elder Smith!

My brother Carter just returned home from serving his mission in Brazil, Brazil. We are so excited to have him home. Macy was just a couple months old and Raegan was 2 when he left and she has since prayed for him every night, she is actually still doing it although he's home. Carter has been such a great example, he was one of those missionaries that served 110% from day one and never slowed down. Were so proud of him and I know that we've all been blessed thanks to his sincere service.

Shimmering Toes

I let Raegan paint her own toenails. She was topping off her red nails with some sparkles and she says to me, "Oh Mom! I just love sparkles! Don't you just love sparkles? I wish that I was a toenail so that I could have sparkles on me!"
