Happy Birthday Kurt!

Today is Kurts 31st birthday! Holy crap he's getting up there! I guess I can't say much considering I'll almost 30. But he's still older, and yet, not more mature. Go figure.
For his birthday, since it fell on a Sunday, we had my parents, Carter, and Tyler and Beth over for dinner. We sang and opened presents then too. His parents also came over to visit, then later Chris and Stormi and Kristie and Clint came over to play games.
Raegan was so excited to give Kurt this stuffed elephant for his birthday that she picked out. There is a funny story with Raegan and birthday shopping this year. I had asked Raegan if she wanted to go shop for her dads birthday and she was so excited. I then asked her to ask dad what he wanted she responded, "NO Mom! It has to be a surprise!!!" then she went skipping to the hall where Kurt was walking and in an instant she says to him, "Oh, hi Dad, were going to the store to get some ham." and continues skipping down the hall. I laughed hysterically, although maybe I shouldn't have thought her being able to lie so quickly and Kurt actually falling for it should be funny, but it was cute that she was trying to cover and keep us shopping for his birthday a surprise.
His parents gave him a couple of aprons and a tri-tip roast, my parents gave him a basket full of his favorite drinks and treats, and I gave him a dutch oven, along with some clothes. Hummmm......roast...aprons...treats...dutch oven...elephant...what does this say about my husband?
The girls had a leaping competition after dinner. I had to throw this picture on because I was so proud of myself for catching her in the air.
Well as customary I will share 31 random facts about Kurt at this point in his life.
1. His favorite drink is Mountain Dew.
2. He loves, loves, loves to golf.
3. He plays on a softball team.
4. Every night I go to bed at 10:00 and he stays up to watch Sports Center, drink Mountain Dew and eat saltines.
5. There are 67 ties hanging in his closet (he's obsessed)
6. He also has an obsession with socks and garments (he has a separate drawer for tops and bottoms, of which when they're all clean they don't fit)
7. Senior year he won Biggest Flirt, of which now his family call him Kurt the flirt. I keep reminding them that should no longer apply.
8. If he could, he would eat, sleep and breath football (another obsession).
9. His high school friends call him Tubby Take Home.
10. Kurt can't sleep unless he has 3 pillows around him. He blames this on me because I won't cuddle with him in the night.
11. He snores
12. On vacation in Hawaii he got a sea Urchin stuck inside his foot that we had to slice out with a razor blade.
13. Kurt can figure anything out, he's great at looking at a project and knowing how to do it himself.
14. He's extremely generous, sometimes to a fault.
15. Hates reading.
16. He can dance like a mad man, I think he'd try out to be a Chip and Dale dancer if he weren't Mormon.
17. Kurt is somewhat of a shopaholic. He blames this on not being able to spend a lot when he was younger so now he goes overboard.
18. Going to a doctor is never an option for him. I always make his doctor/dentist appointments and force him to show up when he needs to.
19. He has passed 2 kidney stones and been in the E.R. for it on Morphine (another time I forced him to go because he was throwing up from the pain).
20. He pours Oreos in a bowl with milk and eats it like cereal.
21. Kurt has the ability to find good in all people, and love them. He just loves people!
22. Favorite football team is the Cowboys.
23. He once poked me in the eye in the middle of the night on purpose, asked me if he poked me in the eye then said "oh" and rolled over and went back to sleep.
24. He wont hire anyone to help with our yard because he says it feels like a real accomplishment when the grass is green because he took care of it himself.
26. He's great at organizing and loves to do it.
27. He loves to snack on toast.
28. When he was a kid he got hit by a snow plow.
29. Kurt loves 80's hard rock, he even went to a Poison concert just a few years ago.
30. His favorite movie is Goonies.
31. His best friend today (besides me) is the same one he had at 8 years old.
Love you hon! I hope that your birthday wasn't to much of a bomb. Really, what do you get the shopaholic that already has pretty much everything he wants? I really lucked out getting married to Kurt, he's so kind hearted and has taught me so much by his example. As Kurt would say- I freakin' love you!

I Love the Fair!

I love the fair!!! I love the greasy food. I love the smelly animals. I love visiting the photography and paintings. I love trying to be sold ridiculous items at ridiculous prices. I love walking around with a carmel apple. I love riding the big yellow slide with my kids. I love watching them in the kiddie farm. I just love it, probably most of all because I've been going every year since I can remember so it's nostalgic for me and I want my kids to have the same great experiences as I did as a kid.
This year we went to the fair with my mom and dad. It's always nice in situations like these to have a few extra helping hands, and of course it was more fun for us and the kids to have Grandma and Grandpa with us.This is Macy brushing the stuffed sheep in the kiddie farm.
And Raegan is milking the "paper cow" I'm not sure why she thought it was made out of paper. They also gathered food, sold their goods and purchased a treat at the store with their pretend money. I think they are now official members of the FFA.

Grandma and Grandpa dancing with the girls to one of the rad fair bands. That poor bunny.Kurt and Macy next to the worlds hugest bull, this picture doesn't show how massive that thing was. I wish that I would have got a picture of the pig eating some ladies cell phone. Everyone was screaming, luckily one of the workers rescued the slobbery device.

Macy thinks she is so funny (most the time she actually is) and she kept doing this face because it would make us all crack up.

What a Unemployed Husband Does in his Spare Time

As everyone knows, Kurt has been unemployed pretty much the whole summer, he recently started working for my dad selling advertisement spots in a Spanish version of the Hometown Values magazine. The only problem is, well, it's never been done, it's a new business, and so far....no cigar. We're keeping our fingers crossed and hope it takes off and we start making millions....hey, I'm trying to be optimistic here!!! With that being said, he's still keeping his options open to other employment opportunities.
It was great having Kurt home during the summer to get things done around the yard, and just hang out as a family, but, I'm not going to lie, it's also nice for him to be back at work during the day so that the girls and I can get back into some sort of routine, that was missing while Kurt was home. How can you ever really miss someone and look forward to them coming home, if they never leave!! I have a new respect for women who's husbands work from home. Don't get me wrong, I love and adore my husband and loved the time we spent together (at least the first month) but I've decided that a little time apart is a good thing.
I thought I would post a few pictures of Kurt hard at work this summer, this how he spent his time (which maybe he should have been looking for a job instead). He actually didn't just play he did put in this rock path, which I thought turned out great and a fire pit in our backyard, so we could cook up the children.
